Amid the ongoing Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, the Election Commission has announced to hold biennial elections for the Legislative Council seats spread across 35 local authorities’ constituencies. Elections for these 35 seats will be conducted in two phases on 3rd and 7th March. The term of the current members is ending on 7th March.

A total of 29 constituencies will go to polls in the first round of polling on 3rd March and voting on



remaining six constituencies will be conducted on 7th March in the second phase. 3rd and 7th March are also the polling dates for the 6th and the 7th phase of the Assembly elections in the state.

The counting will take place on 12th March. The notification for the first phase of polling will be issued on 4th February, while the notification for the second phase will be issued on 10th February.
