The Eastern Zonal Meeting of Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Ministers of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Odisha and Sikkim was postponed on Friday, an official informed. No new dates have been issued for the next meeting.
The meeting was scheduled to be held in Kolkata on November 5 and CMs inclduing Mamata Banerjee, Hemant Soren, Nitish Kumar, Navin Patnaik and Prem Singh Tamang were scheduled to meet Shah.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was not present in Home Minister's Chintan Shivir in Haryana. It was the second such meeting where Amit Shah and Mamata
Banerjee would have been face to face in less than 10 days.
The meeting was scheduled to take place at Nabanna Sabhaghar, adjacent to the state secretariat in Kolkata.
"The proposed meeting of the Eastern Zonal Council has been postponed for now. It will now take place on a different date. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will not be visiting the city next week. We have no idea why it was postponed," the bureaucrat told PTI, when contacted, referring to the MHA communication.
Shah is the Chairman of the Eastern Zonal Council, whereas Banerjee is the Vice-Chairman.
