At least 14 people lost their lives and several others were injured after an out-of-control dumper struck 10 vehicles in Rajasthan’s Jaipur on Monday. According to preliminary reports, the injured were shifted to SMS Hospital for treatment and many of them are in critical condition.
Eyewitnesses said there was normal traffic on the road at the time of the accident but suddenly, a dumper came at high speed and hit the car head-on. They added that after the collision, the dumper also struck two other cars and
a pickup van.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the incident and said he is praying for those who were injured in the incident. "Pained by the loss of lives due to a mishap in Jaipur, Rajasthan. My thoughts are with those who have lost their near and dear ones," the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) quoted PM Modi as saying.
He also announced that an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. Besides, the injured would be given Rs 50,000.
