A man in an inebriated state sneaked into the Sri Govindarajaswamy Temple in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati and climbed the temple’s 100-foot ‘Gopuram’ (monumental entrance tower), triggering a massive security scare that lasted nearly three hours.
He allegedly attempted to damage two “kalashams”,
prompting a swift response from the temple administration and local police, a media report said quoting the police.
Security personnel and devotees at the temple were thrown into a state of panic, the police said on Saturday.
The man was detained and taken to the local police station for questioning.
