Delhi Police has released a video showing an officer offering to arrange travel for CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke after learning of his grandmother’s death, countering his family’s allegation that delays in his release prevented him from attending her funeral. Dipke, however, has disputed the police account, alleging that he was denied access to his phone and a lawyer despite repeated requests.
Delhi Police PRO and DCP Neha Yadav said officers repeatedly offered assistance to Dipke after informing him of the death and funeral timings. In the video released by the police, an officer can be heard offering to arrange transport for
him.
“If you want to travel anywhere, I can arrange transport for you, whether by bus, flight or another mode,” the officer said.
As per the video, the official also offered to help Dipke contact his family using his official phone number, to which Dipke responded, “No, it’s not possible. I can’t speak to my father.”
“Okay. Let’s see what we can do,” the officer replied, as per the police.
Dipke left for Maharashtra on Sunday after being released from detention. “I am going home now to be with my family, as my grandmother has passed away,” he told reporters.
