Former Finance Minister and senior Congress leader, P Chidambaram's judicial custody was extended till 27th November by a Delhi court yesterday in the INX Media money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate, ED.

Special judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar passed the order after Chidambaram was produced before the court through video conference. He could not be brought to the court due to the lawyers' strike in district courts in the national capital.

The ED moved an application seeking extension of custody which was allowed by the court.

Chidambaram was arrested by the CBI on 21st August in the INX Media corruption case and is currently in the ED custody in a related money laundering matter.

The CBI had registered an FIR on May 15, 2017, alleging irregularities in a Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance granted to the INX Media group for receiving overseas funds of 305 crore rupees in 2007.

At that time, P Chidambaram was the Finance Minister. The ED lodged a money-laundering case in this regard in 2017. It took Chidambaram into custody on 16th of this last month.
