The entry of trucks except those carrying essentials has been banned in Delhi in view of severe air pollution in the city. The civil construction work has also be banned. A decision in this regard was taken during an emergency meeting called by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal which was also attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. 

The meeting also approved the hike in parking fees besides increasing the frequency of metro and buses in the national capital. 

It was also agreed to take a decision on Thursday on the need to start the Odd and Even scheme for private cars. The City Transport Department was instructed by the the LG to be ready. The city government has already closed the schools till Sunday. 

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court mandated green body Environment Pollution ( Prevention and Control) Authority- EPCA had recommended four time hike in parking fees and reduction of metro fares during off-peak hours to tackle the



severe air quality in Delhi- NCR. The complete closure of brick kilns, hot mix plants and stone crushers were also recommended.

Meanwhile Health Ministry has issued advisory for the people of Delhi asking them to remain indoors if they have breathing difficulty and try to keep children indoors as much as possible. It has also advised them to avoid morning walk or any other strenuous outdoor activity that increases breathing rate. 

The Ministry has suggested to drink plenty of water and fluids, avoid smoking, minimize the use of deodorants and room sprays as much as possible and avoid the areas with smoke or heavy dust. Those having any heart ailments or chronic respiratory disease or asthma, have been asked to continue their medication. 

In case of any difficulty in breathing, increase in breathing rate, palpitations or severe bout of coughing or sneezing, people should take medical assistance.
