Defence Minister Rajnath Singh yesterday felicitated National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets in New Delhi who recently summited Mount Everest. During the meeting, the Minister said, the NCC deserves praise for deciding to send its cadets to this summit. He added that the summit was a test of their discipline and patience. Mr Singh also presented a cheque of 10 lakh rupees for achieving the feat in the harshest of conditions without any injury. The Minister also congratulated the cadets and their families, saying that the NCC has successfully inculcated a sense of national pride in its cadets.

Singh stated that with the expedition, the brave cadets have sent a message that even the world’s highest peak is no limit for the youth of the country. He exuded confidence that the cadets would overcome future challenges with the same courage and determination they displayed while scaling Mount Everest. 

During the event, the cadets shared their experiences of the expedition, detailing the rigorous training, meticulous planning and challenges encountered. The Mountaineering Expedition Team of NCC, comprising five girls and five boys aged an average of 19 years, scaled Mount Everest on 18th last month.
