The Tamil Nadu government has allocated 500 crore rupees as an immediate relief measure for rehabilitation and relief work in the state following Cyclone Vardha. The maximum amount has been given to the Electricity department which bore the brunt of the cyclone. The other allocations are for fishermen, State Highways, Greater Chennai and the district administrations of Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram.
Chief Minister O. Pannerselvam visited the



cyclone-hit areas and assessed the damages. He also visited the Anna Zoological park where more than 10,000 trees were uprooted and the compound wall had collapsed to a distance of 950 metres.
Meanwhile, the electricity department is working to restore power supply in all the areas in and around Chennai. Schools and Colleges will re-open today. The transport department said, normal transport will resume in a day cyclone-affected areas.
