CRPF Reviews Kashmir Security Grid Ahead of Amarnath Yatra

Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Gyanendra Pratap Singh, has called for proactive, coordinated and intelligence-driven security measures to ensure the smooth, safe and peaceful conduct of the Amarnath Yatra. 

During his three-day visit to the Kashmir Valley, Singh reviewed the overall security situation, operational preparedness and logistical arrangements for the annual pilgrimage, which is scheduled to begin on July 3 and conclude on August 28, coinciding with Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan.

The 57-day pilgrimage to



the holy cave shrine of Lord Shiva, located in the south Kashmir Himalayas at an altitude of about 3,888 metres, will be conducted through both recognised routes- the traditional Nunwan-Pahalgam axis in Anantnag district and the shorter but steeper Baltal route in Ganderbal district. 

Given the large movement of pilgrims, difficult terrain, unpredictable weather and the prevailing security sensitivities in the region, officials are placing special emphasis on multi-layered deployment, access control, surveillance, crowd regulation and rapid response mechanisms.
