New Delhi: Country’s power generation capacity from solar has increased 197 percent in the last five years. The solar capacity of the country has increased from 21,651 megawatt to 64,380 megawatt in the last five years. This was stated by New and Renewable Energy and Power Minister RK Singh in a written reply in the Lok Sabha yesterday. 

He said, the government has set a



target of achieving 500 gigawatt of installed capacity from non-fossil fuels, including 270 gigawatt of solar capacity, by 2030. In replying to another query, Mr. Singh said, the government has approved 57 Solar Parks so far. He said, nine solar parks are fully and additional eight parks are partially complete having 10 thousand 117 megawatt solar capacity.
