The counting of votes is underway for the by-elections to five Assembly seats in four states. The counting is taking place in Gujarat for the Visavadar and Kadi constituencies. Votes are also being counted for the Nilambur seat in Kerala, the Kaliganj in West Bengal and the Ludhiana West in Punjab. The polling was held for these constituencies on the 19th of this month.

The counting of votes for the Ludhiana West Assembly is being

held at Khalsa College For Women. It will take 14 rounds to complete the exercise. General Observer Rajeev Kumar and District Election Officer Himanshu Jain inspected the arrangements for the counting of votes.

In the Nilambur seats, 10 candidates are in the fray. The contest is seen as a litmus test for the ruling LDF government and its prospects in next year’s Assembly polls
