Following the NDA’s landslide victory in Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing BJP workers at the party headquarters in Delhi, made a bold prediction of an imminent split within the Congress. He also issued a warning to the party’s alliance partners, forecasting political upheaval within the Grand Old Party due to growing dissatisfaction among its members.

Highlighting Congress’s repeated electoral failures since 2024, Prime Minister Modi questioned its ability to secure even 100 seats across six states. He further pointed out that Congress had not managed to win a single election in six states since 2024. He argued these results reflected a broader issue within the party and signalled unrest among its members, suggesting Congress’s trajectory was unsustainable for its coalition partners.

"Today, the Congress has become MMC - Muslim League Maoist Congress and the entire agenda of the Congress now revolves around this, and therefore, within the Congress as well, a separate faction is emerging that is uncomfortable with this negative politics. I think that there could be another major split in the Congress," he said.

Accusing the Congress of divisive politics, Prime Minister Modi claimed that the party lacked a positive agenda for the country. He expressed concern that it was promoting interests not aligned with

national development, distancing itself further from mainstream discourse and even from its own coalition partners.

"Even Congress’s allies are beginning to understand that Congress is drowning everyone in its negative politics. That is why, during the Bihar elections, I said that the ‘naamdaar’ of the Congress is practising to drown himself and others in the Bihar elections by taking a dip in the pond," he said.

He described Congress as a “parasite” and warned its alliance partners to be cautious. Modi stated, “I had earlier warned Congress’s allies from this very stage that Congress has become a liability. It is a parasite party that wants to make a comeback by swallowing the vote banks of its allies. That is why even its partners need to be cautious of Congress.”

Modi also predicted that conflicts between Congress and its partners, such as the RJD, would become more visible after their defeat in Bihar. He alleged that Congress had insulted both him and the Election Commission during the campaign, accusing the party of undermining the electoral process.

After the NDA’s win, Modi described the result as a mandate for pro-people and pro-development politics. He asserted that the victory demonstrated public endorsement for the NDA’s governance record and its focus on economic advancement.
