Suresh Kalmadi, senior Congress leader and former Union Minister, passed away in Pune on Tuesday after a prolonged illness at the age of 81.
The former president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is survived by his wife, a son and daughter-in-law, two married daughters and sons-in-law, and
grandchildren.
Kalmadi had served as Union Minister of State for Railways and was a prominent figure in Indian sports administration for over a decade.
A seasoned politician from Pune, he represented the city multiple times in Parliament and held several key positions during his long political career.
