After the collapse of coalition Government in Karnataka yesterday after the trust vote, BJP will hold its legislative party meeting today to elect its leader. Thereafter the legislative party leader will be meeting the Governor to stake a claim for the Government.

The BJP party sources say that B S Yeddyurappa is their natural choice for the post of Chief Minister. The new Government will be asked to prove its majority on the floor of the House by the Governor.

The new Government has to pass the Finance Bill before this month end to enable payment of salaries to the state Government staff.

In all likelyhood the new

Government will be calling the session before this month-end. B S Yeddyurappa will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka. He is likely to be sworn in tomorrow by the Governor. The Cabinet will be decided after proving the majority in the House.

With the strength of 105, it is just two numbers more than the magic number of 103 in a House strength of 205. Two Independents have extended their support to BJP. Both Siddaramaiah and H D Kumaraswamy have predicted that the BJP Government will not survive for long.

The rebel MLAs role in the days to come will give an indication in this direction.
