Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday launched the modernisation works of gates at the Dhavaleswaram Barrage during his three-district tour.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the refurbishment works and unveiled the foundation plaque for the project. Officials said that 58 new gates were installed at the barrage during 2014–19 under the then TDP government.
As per the
recommendations of the Central Water Commission (CWC), the present coalition government has now taken up the installation of new gates for the remaining 117. Naidu also inspected the water flow at the barrage and interacted with irrigation officials.
He directed them to complete the installation process by June next year. Officials assured that the works would be completed ahead of the Godavari Pushkaralu.
