Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday distributed house site title deeds here to over 28,000 families, granting the beneficiaries full ownership of land valued at nearly Rs 9,000 crore.
Through the distribution of title deeds to 28,445 families, 399 acres of land is being regularised, encompassing over 19.3 lakh sq yards of area and ending a four-decade-long wait for ownership rights.
Naidu personally handed over some title deeds to the beneficiaries. "This is the first time
that such a large-scale regularisation and distribution of house-site title deeds is being undertaken in Visakhapatnam," said an official press release earlier.
Thousands of families have been living in houses they had built for themselves in the port city without full legal rights over the land. The absence of title deeds prevented them from fully enjoying, transferring or securing their properties for the future, said the press release, adding that the coalition government has brought an end to this long-pending problem.
