Chhattisgarh Anti-Conversion Law Comes Into Force, says Sharma

Chhattisgarh deputy chief minister Vijay Kumar Sharma said that the new Act, aimed at curbing illegal religious conversions, was published in a gazette on August four and consequently came into force in the state. 

The gazette of the Act has clearly clarified the process of



complaints, investigation, and action in cases related to religious conversions, he said.

“The objective of the state government is to enforce the new Act strictly to curb illegal religious conversions in the state effectively”, he said. Special courts will be set up to hear such cases and dispose of them within six months of registration of the case. The Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion Act- 2026 was passed in the state Assembly recently.
