Korba: Two youth who were under the influence of alcohol chew a half-burnt poisonous snake to avenge the frequent snake bites reported in the village. The incident was reported from Indira Nagar in Chhattisgarh's Korba on Sunday night.

Locals had caught the snake and thrown it near a drain after burning it. However, the snake was only half-burnt when the drunk men, identified as Raju Jangde and Hitendra Anand, spotted it. Raju picked it up and started chewing it. Seeing this, Hitendra snatched the snake from him and started eating the reptile himself. They then threw the snake away.

Soon, the two started feeling dizzy and puked. On their way home, they fell unconscious. Both of them were rushed to the hospital. Their condition is said to be normal, however, they have been kept under observation.

Raju and Hitendra told the doctors that

they thought the snake was alive as they were intoxicated, Dainik Bhaskar reported.

Hitendra said that the snake had been entering the houses in the locality. "Raju aur mai sharab ke nashe me the. Humne kaha ki aaj is saanp ko kha jayenge. Hume laga ki ye saanp kisi ko kaate isse pehle hum hi ise chaba jayenge. Gusse ki vajah se hume kuch soojha nahi aur saanp ko chaba gaye (Raju and I were under the influence of alcohol. We said that we'll eat the snake today. We thought that before the snake bites anyone else, we'll chew it. We could not think properly because of anger)," he told Dainik Bhaskar.

Hitendra added that after eating the snake, they thought, "Jo hoga dekha jayega (We'll see whatever happens)."

The reptile was a Krait snake. According to the experts, the snake is so venomous that one can die within 15 minutes of biting it.
