A voter from Mylapore Assembly constituency alleged on Thursday that her name was “arbitrarily deleted” from the electoral rolls despite following all due procedures during the SIR of electoral rolls exercise.
Krithika Swamy claimed she had ensured her name was present in the draft roll after submitting the necessary forms along with her parents.
However, upon arriving to exercise her franchise for the Assembly polls, she discovered her name had been struck off the
final list, while her parents’ names remained on the roll.
“I have been running from pillar to post since morning. I went to the Taluk office, the Zonal office, and back to the booth, but no one had an answer,” Swamy told Media, expressing outrage over the lack of a grievance redressal mechanism.
She further alleged that the Booth Level Officer (BLO) was unavailable and that officials displayed “audacity” by simply stating the name was deleted without providing a reason.
