The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) will set up 11 air-conditioned bus shelters equipped with modern passenger amenities at key locations across the city as part of a pilot initiative funded through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions.
Memoranda of Understanding for the project were signed with contributing organisations on Tuesday in the presence of Corporation Commissioner Dr. G.S. Sameeran and Greater Chennai Police Commissioner Dr A. Amalraj at
Ripon Buildings.
The initiative is aimed at improving infrastructure and providing commuters with safer and more comfortable waiting facilities, particularly during Chennai's extreme weather conditions.
The air-conditioned bus shelters will be established at locations supported by organisations including Apollo Hospitals, Kauvery Hospital, Guru Nanak College, SIMS Hospital, Rohini Hotels, SRM Prime Hospital and Freyer International Logistics.
