On the occasion of the NDA government completing one year in Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu gave the green signal to roll out another of his major 'Super Six' poll promises, the “Talli Ki Vandanam” scheme.
The government will disburse Rs 8,745 crore under the scheme on June 12, directly into the bank accounts of eligible mothers.
“Talli Ki Vandanam” (Salute to mother) promises Rs 15,000 annually for every school-going child, and is designed to benefit the mothers of 67,27,164 students across the state.
The government has issued a government order finalising the operational guidelines for the scheme, which is being positioned as
a “special gift for mothers” to mark the government’s one-year anniversary.
This is the fifth of the ‘Super Six’ promises to be implemented, following the pension hike, revival of Anna Canteens, Mega DSC recruitment drive, and Deepam-2 scheme. The remaining promises include monthly financial assistance to women aged 19-59 and support for youth through jobs or unemployment allowance.
The scheme will also apply to students joining Class 1 and Intermediate First Year. The funds will be released once admissions are completed and verified. It remains unclear whether this initial installment of benefits under “Talli Ki Vandanam” is for the 2024-25 or 2025-26 academic year.
