Over 25 crore soil health cards have been distributed to farmers across the country. The Soil Health Card scheme was launched by the government in 2015 with a view to addressing the decline of soil nutrients.

By July last year, more than 93 thousand farmer training programmes, over 6 lakh field demonstrations, and thousands of awareness campaigns were conducted under the scheme. The Government said that it reflects the scale and outreach of the

scheme in promoting balanced nutrient management.

The Soil Health Card is issued every two years and provides farmers with a comprehensive understanding of the nutrient status and physicochemical conditions of their soils. It also offers crop-specific recommendations on the appropriate use of chemical fertilisers, bio-fertilisers, organic inputs, and soil treatments to support informed decision-making and long-term soil health management.
