A Central team headed by Joint Secretary in Union Home Ministry, TVSN Prasad would be making a two-day visit to the flood-hit areas of Tamil Nadu for the final assessment of damages from today. The high-level inter-ministerial team consisting of nine members last time inspected Chennai, Kanchipuram, Cuddalore and Tiruvallur districts for three days from November 26. However, more severe flood occurred afterwards.

up their first hand assessment of damages, they will be touring the state again, as informed by the Tamil Nadu chief minister J.Jayalalithaa in a statement. She has expressed hope that after the team’s visit, the Centre would give more financial assistance to the state. As per the government records, 425 people lost their lives due to the unprecedented flood during the monsoon from October 28th to December 31st last year.
