CBI arrests Ex RG Kar principal Sandip Ghosh for destroying evidence and misleading investigation

The Central Bureau of Investigation arrested the former principal of the RG Kar College and Hospital Dr Sandip Ghosh and a police officer for alleged delay in filing the FIR and missing evidence in the Kolkata rape and murder case on Saturday.

The cop arrested along with Ghosh is Station House Officer (SHO) of Tala Police Station, Abhijit Mandal.

According to sources, Ghosh and Mandal were arrested for destroying the evidence and misleading the investigation. Notably,



Ghosh was earlier arrested by the central probe agency in a separate case related to alleged financial irregularities in the RG Kar College and Hospital.

The CBI had also subjected Sandip Ghosh to a polygraph test.

Calcutta High Court has given CBI a three-week deadline to submit a progress report on their ongoing investigation into the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital last month. The report is expected to be presented before the court on September 17.
