Case Registered Against Three Inmates for Assaulting Prison Officer in Keralam

Three inmates of the Kannur Central Jail have been booked for allegedly assaulting an Assistant Prison Officer who was on security duty at the prison here, police said on Thursday. 

According to police, the incident occurred around 5 pm on September 22 inside Block 10 of the prison, following an altercation between the officer and an inmate.

According to the FIR, inmate Vishnu allegedly refused to comply with directions issued by Assistant Prison Officer Zayed Ali Ajsal, verbally abused him, caught him by the neck and assaulted him



before kicking him after pushing him to the ground.

Two other inmates, identified as Adarsh Chandrashekaran and Brahmajith, allegedly joined the altercation when other prison officials intervened to rescue the officer, officials said. 

They allegedly attempted to attack the officials and obstruct them from discharging their duties, police said. Based on a complaint lodged by the Prison Superintendent, the Kannur Town Police registered a case against the three prisoners for verbal abuse, voluntarily causing hurt and assault, police said.
