A case has been filed against Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra. A 56-year-old car driver from Banur has filed a case in Chandigarh and seeks compensation of Rs 50 lakh for the death of his son (Mangat Singh) and Rs 20 lakh for death of grandson (Gursevak), in an accident allegedly caused by Bindra’s driver.

A case has been registered under Section 166 of the Motor Vehicle Act against Banty, the car driver and Abhinav Bindra, who is the owner of the car. A case has



also filed against the Oriental Insurance Company Limited. As per a report in The Indian Express, the victims were on the motorcycle. As they were crossing the Banur village, a speeded Volvo car, driven by Banty hit the motorcycle from behind and dragged it for around 100 metres as the bike got stuck in the car. While Mangat Singh died on the spot with injuries, his son Gursevak was rushed to hospital.

Meanwhile, the car driver managed to escape but was later arrested by police.
