Three people were killed and two others injured after a car crashed near Devinagar in the Tekkalakote police station limits, about 12 km from Siruguppa, on Wednesday.

The deceased have been identified as Prasad Rao (75), who was driving the car, Vijaya (70), and Sandhya (35). The injured—Padma (70) and Braheshwar Rao (45), both residents of Siruguppa—were shifted to Ballari for treatment. Police said their condition is

stable and they are out of danger.

According to police, the accident occurred between 4 pm and 4.30 pm while the car was travelling from Tamil Nadu to Siruguppa via Mysuru. The mishap took place on NH 150A when the vehicle was nearing Siruguppa.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Prasad Rao lost control of the car after it swerved to the right side of the road and crashed into a culvert near Devinagar.
