Union Cabinet has approved the development of the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal, Gujarat. Addressing media in New Delhi, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the proposal aims to showcase India’s rich and diverse maritime heritage.  He said it will be the world’s greatest Maritime complex once it is fully developed. 

Mr Vaishnaw said that as per the vision of  Prime Minister Narendra Modi to showcase 4,500 years old maritime heritage of India, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and  Waterway is setting up a world-class National Maritime Heritage Complex at Lothal. Mr Vaishnaw said that there are several components in this Complex including the working and experience area Light House Museum and five-dimensional



theatre so that the new generation could know about India’s rich maritime heritage.   

The Union Cabinet has approved the construction of 2 thousand 280 kilometre roads in border areas of Rajasthan and Punjab.  Addressing media in New Delhi, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that the project will cost more than four thousand four hundred crore rupees. 

The Union Minister said that this decision will have a major impact on the road and telecom connectivity, and facilities of water supply, health and education. He added that it will also enhance rural livelihood, ease travel, and ensure connectivity of these areas with the rest of the highway network.
