The ruling BJP in Arunachal Pradesh won a majority of zilla parishad and gram panchayat constituencies, according to the final results declared by the State Election Commission (SEC) on Sunday evening.
Counting of votes for the panchayat and municipal bodies polls was held on Saturday. However, counting of votes for the panchayat elections continued till late at night, for which it was officially confirmed on Sunday, SEC secretary
Taru Talo said.
According to a statement from the SEC, in the zilla parishad segment, the BJP won 170 out of 245 zila parishad member (ZPM) seats, including 59 seats uncontested, establishing its clear dominance at the district level.
The Peoples' Party of Arunachal (PPA) emerged as the second-largest force with 28 seats, while the Congress secured seven seats in the zila parishad constituencies.
