The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday put up banners across the national capital to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi completing 12 years in office.
PM Modi has officially become India's longest continuously serving Prime Minister, crossing the 4,399-day milestone in office. He surpassed former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru's record of 4,398 consecutive days served after India's first general
election.
Leaders of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), international dignitaries, and prominent personalities from various fields congratulated the Prime Minister on the achievement. Former Karnataka Chief Minister and senior BJP leader BS Yediyurappa also extended his congratulations.
In a post on X, he described the milestone as a historic moment in India's democratic journey and wished PM Modi continued success in leading the nation.
