Fears expressed by Congress MLA Vijayanand Kashappanavar over sale of Indian Premier League (IPL) match tickets online would lead to ‘black’ market sales came true after Central Crime Branch (CCB) attached to Bengaluru police arrested 11 persons in connection with sale of IPL tickets in ‘black’ and seized 8 mobile phone used in the “black marketeering.”

 CCB sleuths recovered from the arrested as many as 28 tickets as well. Police have recovered screenshots of tickets put on sale in the ‘black’ by arrested and the estimated value of the tickets put on sale is Rs. 4.55



lakh.

The sale of IPL tickets in ‘black’ was over a match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Chennai Superkings (CSK) played at M. Chinnaswamy stadium of Bengaluru city on Sunday. 

Regarding sale of IPL tickets in ‘black,’ Cubbon Park police arrested 10 while Chamarajapete police arrested a person. Cubbon Park police recovered 7 mobile phones used in the sale of IPL tickets in the ‘black’ while Chamarajpete police seized a mobile phone from the arrested.

18 IPL tickets to be sold in the ‘black’ were seized by Cubbon Park police and another 10 by Chamarajapete police.
