Police in Bengaluru have arrested a 25-year-old man hailing from West Bengal who allegedly conspired with a member of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to join the outfit and plan retaliatory attacks against the Pakistan Army and India, according to a press release issued by police.

Asaful Mallik, son of Abed Mallik, was taken into custody from the Bommasandra Industrial Area on August 11 after police received information that he was allegedly conspiring to attack

the Pakistan Army.

Mallik was residing in Jigani and worked as a security guard, the release said. Police said Mallik had got in touch with Imran Ahinder from Afghanistan, a member of the TTP, through Facebook.

The release said Mallik was allegedly influenced by what he perceived as atrocities by the Pakistan Army against mosques and people in Pakistan, as well as its alleged support for Israel in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
