Arvind Kejriwal announces national town hall against E20 petrol on August 1

AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday announced a 'National Town Hall Against E20' on August 1 at the Constitution Club of India, saying the platform would discuss ways to press the Centre to withdraw E20 petrol. He also said the party's online petition to make E20 fuel optional had received nearly two lakh signatures.

Kejriwal said he would take the online petition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence after the meeting. On a separate issue, he denied allegations of a paper leak in Punjab and accused the BJP of trying to tarnish what he described as the state's rise from 27th to number one in the country's education rankings under the Aam Aadmi Party government.

Announcing the event, Kejriwal said, "We are inviting people to join in large



numbers this platform where we will discuss how to create pressure on the central government to withdraw the E20 petrol. Experts and people who have faced problems with their vehicles, all are invited." He said people who want to participate virtually can send a message to 85-88-833-212 and they will receive an online link to join.

The former Delhi chief minister said the AAP had earlier launched an online petition to make E20 fuel optional, and that it had been signed by almost two lakh people. "Next week, I will go to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's house with the online petition. But that would be after this meeting," he said. Earlier this month, Kejriwal had written to the prime minister seeking an appointment to discuss concerns over E20 fuel and lower prices for ethanol-blended petrol.
