New Delhi: India has reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh has always been and will always remain an inalienable part of India. Briefing the media in New Delhi yesterday, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi hoped that instead of engaging in antics like renaming parts of Arunachal Pradesh, China will work constructively with India to resolve the outstanding friction points in areas along the Western Sector of the LAC in the India-China border areas.

Regarding reports of a bridge being made by China on Pangong Lake, Mr Bagchi said, the Indian government is monitoring this closely. He said, this bridge is being constructed in areas that have been under illegal occupation by China for around 60 years. He added that the government is taking steps to ensure that India's security interests are protected.

On the  Chinese embassy writing to Indian MPs on their participation at an event, the spokesperson said the substance, tone and tenor of the letter are inappropriate. He said that India expects the Chinese side to refrain from hyping the normal activities by Indian MPs and further complicate the situation in bilateral relations.
