An army jawan was killed in an exchange of fire with militants as the force foiled an infiltration bid along Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara sector of north Kashmir on Friday.
An army official said in Srinagar that a group of militants, trying to infiltrate, was intercepted early on Friday morning



by alert troops deployed on the LoC.
He said the militants fired upon the forces leading to an encounter. In the ensuing gunfight, Sepoy Ramesh Chand Yadav succumbed to bullet injury.
The operation to flush out militants was on when the last reports reached, the official said.
