The Andhra Pradesh government issued orders implementing a policy to complete permanent registration of new vehicles within 24 hours of purchase. Special Chief Secretary of the Transport Department, MT Krishababu, issued orders to this effect on Monday.
AP Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy stated that this new system would be implemented in accordance with the directives of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, to provide expedited services to vehicle owners.
The initiative aims to bring greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency to transport services. This move is part of
the state govt?s push towards technology-driven governance and time-bound public service delivery.
The Minister noted that an exception to this rule would apply only to vehicles seeking "fancy" registration numbers. Those applications will continue under the existing special number allocation process.
He added that registrations would be approved online even on public holidays. The Minister announced that the government intends to clear the backlog of pending registrations across the state and is taking measures to ensure that services are delivered to the public in a transparent and hassle-free manner.
