Andhra Still Faces 35 PC Rainfall Deficit Despite Recent Rains

Andhra Pradesh continues to face a rainfall deficit despite recent rains across north and parts of coastal Andhra. 

The north Andhra region received an average of 25 cm of rainfall, with Visakhapatnam recording the highest at 41 cm between September 21 and 24. The deficit stood at 47 per cent before the recent rains. 

According to IMD Amaravati data, the state recorded a 34.8 per cent deficit in cumulative rainfall since the beginning of the southwest monsoon, receiving 353.6 mm against the normal 542.7 mm between



June 1 and September 24.

Among the northern districts, Srikakulam received 602.3 mm against the normal 657.1 mm, a deficit of 8.3 per cent. Vizianagaram received 556.9 mm against 631.3 mm, a deficit of 11.8 per cent. Parvathipuram Manyam recorded 549.1 mm against 726.9 mm, a deficit of 24.5 per cent, while Alluri Sitarama Raju district received 629.4 mm against 835.9 mm, a deficit of 24.7 per cent. Visakhapatnam recorded 516.9 mm against 544.5 mm, with a deficit of 5.1 per cent. Anakapalli received 487.3 mm against 631.7 mm, a deficit of 22.9 per cent.
