The Andhra Pradesh State Waqf Board has regained thousands of key records that had remained with the Telangana State Waqf Board since the bifurcation of the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh, ending a nearly decade-long wait.
Announcing the development on Friday, AP State Waqf Board chairman Sheikh Abdul Aziz described it as a historic milestone, saying the transfer would strengthen the protection and legal management of Waqf
properties in the state.
The records handed over include 3,503 files in 79 bundles, 4,050 survey commissioner reports, two official Gazette volumes and several other documents relating to Andhra Pradesh.
Abdul Aziz said the absence of these records since bifurcation had hampered the identification and protection of Waqf properties, verification of ownership, removal of encroachments and legal proceedings.
