Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Leh on Thursday for a two‑day visit that carries both administrative significance and deep spiritual resonance for the region.
His visit coincides with Buddha Purnima and the inauguration of the first‑ever international exposition of the holy relics of Gautama Buddha within India, an event that Ladakh’s administration has described as
historic.
Immediately after landing at Leh’s Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, Shah was received by Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena and senior officials of the civil and police administration.
People from across Leh, dressed in traditional attire, lined the roads leading to the airport to welcome him, reflecting the enthusiasm and reverence surrounding both his visit and the sacred occasion.
