Amit Shah Lays Foundation for World's Largest Curd Plant In Kolkata

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday performed the Bhoomi Pujan for the world’s largest curd manufacturing plant under the Amul Bengal Dairy Project in Kolkata. 

The Rs 700 crore facility is being set up at Howrah Food Park. Once complete, it will process 30 lakh litres of milk daily and produce nearly 10 lakh kg of curd and other cultured dairy products each day. 

Shah said the project aligns with PM Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sahkar Se Samriddhi” and “White Revolution 2.0”. It aims to modernise West Bengal’s dairy sector with better



processing, cold-chain infrastructure and marketing.

The Home Minister expressed confidence that Bengal’s iconic mishti doi would now gain wider national reach. Emphasising the strength of the cooperative model, Shah said Amul ensures that the largest share of consumer spending reaches farmers. In the first phase, the plant will process 10 lakh litres of milk daily and benefit around 1.20 lakh milk producers in the state. 

Shah thanked the West Bengal government for providing 30 acres of land free of cost, saying it has paved the way for nearly 100 major investments.
