In Jammu & Kashmir, Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra resumed today after it was temporarily halted due to bad weather conditions in most areas in both Kashmir and Jammu divisions yesterday. Official sources confirmed that given improvement in weather conditions, the authorities allowed the 17th batch of Yatris to move from Bhagwati Nagar Jammu Base Camp early this morning towards the Kashmir region. Over 9,500 Yatris, including men, women, children, Sadhus, Sadhvis, etc, in 335 vehicles, are part of this Yatri convoy to reach their respective Base Camps in the Kashmir region.

Due to continuous heavy rains

along the Baltal and Pahalgam routes, the Yatra had to be suspended temporarily yesterday. Later in the afternoon, with the improvement in weather conditions and completion of the repair of twin Yatra tracks by the Border Roads Organisation, over 2000 Yatris were allowed to have darshan at the Holy Cave Shrine. Meanwhile, around two lakh fifty-six thousand pilgrims paid obeisance at the Holy Cave Shrine during the past 15 days till last evening. The 38-day Yatra formally started on the 3rd of this month and will conclude on the 9th of August on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
