Allahabad High Court has cancelled National Security Act (NSA) slapped on Congress MLA from Varanasi Ajai Rai and declared it illegal. The NSA was imposed on Congress MLA due to his participation in protest march on idol immersion issue and lathi charge on seers in October last year in Varanasi. The protest march was organized by the MLA which later turned violent. Mr Rai was arrested on the charge of

instigating violence and later NSA was imposed on him.
While hearing a writ petition filed by the MLA, High Court bench comprising Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Nahid Aara Munis passed this order and cancelled the NSA against the Congress MLA. During hearing, the petitioner’s counsel claimed that the district administration had no satisfactory grounds while imposing NSA against the MLA.
