The air quality in the National capital improved further this morning, giving respite to people suffering from acute pollution for a week. According to Central Pollution Control Board, the Air Quality Index was recorded 260 which is in poor category.

The UP government has taken strict action against the farmers burning crop residue. As per the central pollution control board data Kanpur was the most polluted city in country followed by capital Lucknow.  

Centre is maintaining a constant vigil on the situation arising out of pollution in the northern parts of the country. Prime Minister



Narendra Modi reviewed the situation at a high level meeting yesterday. He also reviewed the situation arising due to cyclone conditions in parts of western India.

This was followed by Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba reviewing the progress made in the arrangements to control air pollution in the National Capital Region. It was observed that the cases of crop stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana still continues and there is a need for more focused action.  

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has summoned Chief Secretaries of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
