The initial report on the Air India crash has been released, focusing on a problem with the fuel control switch. The report references a 2018 Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) bulletin that recommended inspecting the locking features of fuel control switches in certain Boeing models, including the 737 series.

The investigation

suggests that during takeoff, the switches shifted from 'run' to 'switch off', causing both engines to shut down. The incident, from takeoff to crash, occurred within 92 seconds.

The report highlights the importance of the FAA's previous recommendations and raises questions about why these weren't made mandatory for all aircraft.
