Air India and Air India Express have increased fares on domestic and international routes from Friday, citing a sharp rise in aviation fuel prices amid escalating tensions in West Asia.
The revised fares include increases of up to Rs 1,200 on domestic routes, Rs 20,855 on flights to North America, Rs 20,370 to Australia, Rs 13,000 to the UK and Europe, and Rs, 5,300 to West Asia. IndiGo had also announced a hike in ticket prices earlier this week, seeking to offset rising fuel costs.
Air India Express implemented the revised charges from Friday
midnight, while the revised charges for Air India flights came into effect at 11 am.
Under the revised structure, domestic passengers will pay an additional Rs 400 for journeys of up to 500 km, Rs 600 for distances between 501 km and 1,000 km, and Rs 850 for journeys between 1,001 km and 1,500 km. Flights covering distances of 1,501 km and above will attract an additional charge of Rs 1,200.
The airlines said the fuel charges would be reviewed periodically based on changes in fuel prices and prevailing conditions, and further adjustments will be made if necessary.
