The Delhi Police on Friday registered a first information report (FIR) in the case of 19-year-old Sahil Lochab, who allegedly suffered pellet injuries during the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) protest, hours after Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi staged a sit-in outside the Parliament Street Police Station. However, no individual has been named as an accused in the FIR.
As per the latest information, the police registered the FIR under Sections 118 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Section 118 deals with voluntarily causing
hurt or grievous hurt using dangerous weapons or means, while Section 125 concerns acts endangering the life or personal safety of others.
The drama unfolded in the early hours of Friday when Gandhi, accompanied by a few Congress leaders and Lochab, reached the Connaught Place Police Station after the 19-year-old alleged that Delhi Police had refused to register an FIR. However, after being informed that New Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Sharma was at the Parliament Street Police Station, they soon headed there.
