On the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, Dahi Handi events were held across Maharashtra, with large-scale celebrations in Mumbai. Hundreds of Govindas participated with great enthusiasm in the traditional event, which involves creating human pyramids to break earthen pots filled with curd. However, the festivities turned tragic for several participants, as multiple injuries were reported throughout
the day.
As per the data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), by 6 PM, a total of 95 Govindas had sustained injuries during the celebrations. Among these, 19 were admitted to various hospitals, with 2 in critical condition. The majority of the injured were given immediate medical attention and discharged after receiving primary treatment.
