The Pentagon has reportedly administered polygraph tests to around 50 members of the US military’s Joint Staff as part of an effort to identify officials suspected of leaking information to the media.

According to a report by The media, investigators questioned the personnel about leaks concerning US munitions supplies and other sensitive information. Polygraph tests were reportedly conducted on around 50 Joint Staff members over the past month. The US military’s Joint Staff has approximately

1,500 to 2,000 personnel.

Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said the US Department of Defense could not comment on internal personnel matters or ongoing investigations.

“However, if it is found that information related to national security has been leaked, we take that very seriously and will take appropriate action,” Parnell said. He added that protecting sensitive military information was extremely important, particularly for the safety of US troops deployed around the world.
