Pakistan experienced another tremor on Monday as a 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck the country at a shallow depth of 10 km, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). Notably, earthquakes of moderate 4.0 intensity had hit Pakistan on Saturday and Sunday as well.
The quake, which hit at 11.12 am IST, comes on the heels of moderate earthquakes over the weekend, signalling a potentially
volatile seismic period.
In a post on X, NCS detailed the earthquake's coordinates: latitude 30.51 N, longitude 70.41 E.
Experts warn that shallow earthquakes, like Monday’s, can be more dangerous than deeper ones, as seismic waves have less distance to travel to the surface, often resulting in stronger shaking and greater damage, news agency ANI reported.
